Make uncertainty visible
Use a hold label for unknown blanks and keep them away from approved test stock. Preserve supplier documentation where available. Visual similarity, an old sample, or a seller description is not enough to establish safe compatibility.
Follow current official operating guidance for material approval, shielding, ventilation, protective measures, and attended operation. A checklist supports the responsible operator; it does not replace training or documented safety requirements.
Record the release from hold
Only a named reviewer should move a blank from hold into the approved test workflow. Attach the supporting record and date to the sample ID. If the coating, supplier, or construction changes, return the material to review.
