Make it normal to pause
A stop check on a job card gives an adult operator a visible prompt to pause when the setup, material, workspace, or intended result no longer matches the plan. It supports careful review but does not replace product instructions, appropriate protective equipment, ventilation, shielding, or local safety requirements.
Put the stop check immediately before the operation begins. The prompt can be simple: confirm the object is stable, the work area is clear, the file matches the order, and the intended observation is recorded. If any answer is uncertain, pause and resolve it before proceeding.
Keep the card with the work
Use the same card to record a short post-job observation. That turns safety and quality review into one continuous habit rather than a separate task that is easy to skip.
