When a customer asks for a repeat gift, two labeled photos can be more useful than a long recollection: one reference image and one current proof image. Give each photo a role and connect it to the artwork version so the next decision stays visible.

Keep unknown details open

A prior photo may show a look but not every production choice behind it. Add an open note for anything that still needs confirmation instead of turning an image into an assumption. That habit keeps a repeat request reviewable.
