A remake log is most useful when it describes the decision that failed, not just the blank that was discarded. A short reason list can help a small shop see whether artwork, approval, labeling, or setup deserves attention.
Use neutral categories
Start with a few observable labels: wrong artwork version, unclear orientation, blank mismatch, incomplete approval, or setup not confirmed. Add a note and photograph when appropriate. Avoid guessing about a cause that has not been checked.
Review patterns before adding promises
After several jobs, look for repeated decision points. If approvals cause confusion, improve the order form. If sample labels are inconsistent, revise the intake card. The log should guide a workflow change; it is not evidence of production capacity or guaranteed turnaround.
Any new process still requires compatibility checks and the current instructions for setup, guarding, ventilation, protective equipment, and attended operation. Test the actual material and finish before publishing product claims.
