If a sample comparison changes the artwork, surface and setup together, the resulting difference is hard to explain. Begin with a narrow question and a clear control.
A practical check
Give each specimen an ID and record the blank source and visible finish. Keep the artwork fixed while comparing one chosen variable, subject to the G1 instructions and material safety guidance. Place any unknown coating or unidentified stock on hold until it can be assessed.
Keep the decision traceable
After a test, write down observations that are visible, such as legibility or apparent contrast, and keep rejected pieces in the record. Avoid turning a single attractive sample into a claim about all objects with a similar name.
