If two sample photos are taken under very different lighting, it can be hard to tell whether a visible difference comes from the sample or the photograph. Use one ordinary, documented light source when making a comparison record.
Keep the comparison honest
Place the samples in the same orientation and photograph them with the same broad view. Add a note for surface condition, camera distance, and any change you did not control. This documents an observation; it does not establish a performance ranking or material claim.
If a difference matters to a project, repeat the check with a suitable sample before making a decision. Retain both the photo and the open questions in the project record.
