Small rulers, clamps, sample pieces, and cleaning tools can disappear into a busy bench. Use a short tool count before setup and again during closeout.
Give each item a visible home
Keep the required tools in a marked tray or outlined storage area. Count by position rather than memory. If an item is missing, pause the next setup and inspect the work area, nearby floor, waste container, and storage point.
The count should complement current machine instructions and site safety procedures. It does not replace guards, ventilation, supervision, fire precautions, or a proper pre-operation check.
Include fragments and temporary aids
Remove test offcuts, tape, paper notes, and temporary alignment aids that are not part of the next approved setup. Record any damaged or missing item so the next operator does not inherit an unexplained gap.
