A material name alone is rarely enough to identify a sample later. Add a source line that records where the blank came from, how it was labeled, and when it entered the workshop.
Record what you actually know
Copy the supplier description without turning it into a verified composition claim. Add an internal batch or purchase reference and photograph any packaging or label that arrived with the blank. If the composition or coating is unknown, write unknown clearly.
Before laser work, use current safety information to determine whether the material is suitable. Do not treat appearance, a seller category, or an older sample as proof of compatibility.
Keep source and result separate
The source line describes the blank. A separate observation line describes what was visible after a controlled test and under which viewing conditions. This separation makes it harder for a limited sample to become a universal material guarantee.
