When a sample succeeds or fails, it is tempting to treat the result as one big design opinion. A better habit is to separate material notes from design notes. That way, a weak result can still teach whether the issue was contrast, artwork scale, placement, surface finish, or the idea itself.

Use two short sections on every sample card. Under material notes, describe the blank, visible contrast, surface condition, and anything that should be tested again. Under design notes, describe artwork size, line weight, readability, and whether the result fits the intended use.

This separation keeps public content conservative. A maker can say a sample is under review, a surface needs more comparison, or a design needs adjustment without claiming durability, certification, or a final recommended setting.
