Give every sample one purpose

Before preparing a material sample, write the single question it is meant to help answer. It might be about layout legibility, surface appearance, or how an icon reads at a chosen size. One clear question makes the observation easier to interpret later.

Photograph or note the sample beside its artwork version and date. Record what was observed without turning that observation into a general material guarantee. Different blanks and conditions can call for their own review.

Compare like with like

If you prepare another sample, change one meaningful element at a time and label the difference. That keeps the comparison useful for your own workflow and makes it clear which result belongs to which test.
