Two samples made on different days may also have experienced different light, dust, handling, or storage. Record those conditions before treating a color difference as process evidence.
Use a simple storage note
Note whether the sample stayed in a closed sleeve, on an open display board, or near direct daylight. Add the date it entered storage and the date of comparison. Photograph both pieces together under the same documented lighting when a visual comparison matters.
This record does not explain every change, and it does not establish a material guarantee. It simply prevents an uncontrolled storage difference from being overlooked.
Compare like with like
Use samples with known identity and history. If one record is incomplete, label the comparison inconclusive and prepare a controlled test rather than filling the gap with an assumption.
