Mark the area you intend to read
Before preparing artwork, sketch a simple placement window around the part of the object a person will normally see. This gives a small name, date, or icon a deliberate home without assuming every blank will behave the same way.
Use the window in a preview first. Keep clear space around the mark, compare it with the object edge, and save the reviewed version so a later edit has a traceable starting point.
Keep the first trial easy to inspect
Start with a short, readable design instead of combining many tiny elements. Look at the preview at ordinary viewing size, then make a note of what still needs checking on the physical sample.
