Directional artwork on a cylinder needs a clearly marked top before anyone approves the composition. A mountain, arrow or handwritten name can face the wrong way even when its spacing looks intentional.
Draw the intended viewing position
Use a simple side-view sketch of the object with its top and base labeled. Place the artwork on that sketch and add an arrow showing how the recipient is expected to view it. Keep that arrow in the proof notes, separate from the production artwork, so it cannot become an unintended engraved mark.
If the item can be displayed in more than one position, ask which position matters most. Save that answer alongside the design version. An approval that shows only a floating logo leaves the relationship between artwork and object unresolved.
Treat orientation and setup separately
