A finished sample is more informative when an untouched piece from the same batch appears beside it. The control makes the starting color, texture, and surface variation visible in the review photo.

Label both pieces with the same source note and date. If the blanks differ before testing, record that difference rather than attributing every visible change to the engraving process.
