Two sample photos taken under different light can suggest a difference that is not present on the objects. Create a repeatable photo corner before using images to compare contrast, texture, or edge appearance.
Fix the variables around the camera
Use the same background, light position, camera angle, and approximate distance. Include a neutral reference card and a written sample identifier in the frame. Avoid filters and automatic enhancements when the photo is meant to document a test.
Keep the physical samples
Photos are useful records, but they do not replace inspection of the labeled sample. Record the material description supplied to you, the date, and the relevant test notes without turning one result into a broad material guarantee.
