Build a comparable sample record

When testing a new blank, photograph the same corner or small reference mark in every sample. Consistent framing makes it easier to compare what changed without treating one early observation as a universal material result.

Add a plain label for the material description, the artwork version, and the question being explored. Keep the record factual: describe what you can see and what still needs another check.

Preserve the context with the image

Store the sample image beside its preview and notes. If light, camera angle, or surface preparation differed, record that too so later comparisons have the right context.
