A quick edge record helps preserve what a placement test actually taught you. Before moving a blank, photograph the fixture edge, the blank edge, and one stable reference point in the same frame.
Capture the relationship
The useful detail is not a polished result photo. It is the relationship between the artwork preview, the fixture, and the blank. Add a short note for orientation and file revision so another person can understand the setup later.
Reposition with a question
If the blank must be moved, decide what the second placement is testing: centering, rotation, or clearance. Change one thing and take another reference photo. A controlled comparison is easier to interpret than several unrecorded adjustments.
Material identity, current operating guidance, focus, shielding, ventilation, and attended operation still need confirmation for every setup. A reference photo does not replace those checks or prove repeatability.
