When reviewing a sample, legibility and surface appearance answer different questions. Use one note for whether the design is readable at the intended viewing distance and another for what the finish looks like under the recorded lighting condition.

Keeping the observations separate makes it easier to identify whether the next change belongs in the artwork, the sample plan, or the photography. A single sample remains a sample, not a guarantee for a material category.
