Rework pieces and untouched blanks can look nearly identical during a busy batch. Separate them before the next setup begins.

Use three visible states

Create labeled areas for new, under review, and approved. Move a piece only after its order card receives the same status. If a sample needs another pass, add the reason to the card rather than returning it to the new-material stack.

Restart the setup check for rework

Do not assume a previous pass leaves the surface unchanged. Reconfirm material identity, coating condition, placement, current operating guidance, shielding, ventilation, and attended-operation procedure. If the condition is uncertain, stop and use a controlled test piece.

This simple separation helps a small team see what is ready and what still needs judgment. It does not establish throughput or guarantee that a piece can be reworked safely.
