A sample can show a visible surface change without producing artwork that is easy to read. Reviewing those observations separately produces more useful notes and avoids turning appearance into a material guarantee.
Score two questions
First describe the surface change in neutral language: visible, uneven, faint, or unclear under the recorded lighting. Then review artwork readability at the intended viewing distance. Keep the two fields separate so a strong mark is not automatically called a successful design.
Include a reference object
Photograph the sample with a label and a neutral scale reference when appropriate, without claiming precision the photo cannot support. Record the file version and lighting direction. Preserve an unmarked reference when the available material allows it.
Limit the conclusion
The record applies to the observed sample and setup. Material identity, finish, preparation, and artwork can change the result. Follow current operating and safety guidance before any further test.
