Loose scraps and mystery blanks should not drift into a laser work area. Create a separate holding zone for anything without a reliable material description, source record, and review status.
Label before staging
Only move a blank into the active queue after its identity is established and current guidance supports the intended work. The label should travel with the blank and distinguish ready for review, approved for the planned setup, and rejected or unresolved.
Clear the bench at session end
Return identified stock to labeled storage and move unresolved pieces back to the holding zone. Never let an unmarked leftover become the next operator's assumed test material.
This zone is a workflow control, not a substitute for product documentation, training, protective measures, ventilation, local requirements, or attended operation. Stop whenever material identity or equipment state is unclear.
