A handwritten name carries pauses: a lifted pen, an open loop, or an intentionally separate dot. Before preparing a G1 gift design, keep those features visible in the source image.
A practical check
Keep the original scan beside the cleaned version. Mark each ambiguous join, then ask the writer which strokes are connected. A tidy digital trace can change a letter even when the overall word still looks familiar.
Keep the decision traceable
Print the chosen trace at the planned display size. Read it once without the source nearby, then compare each dot and loop against the original. Save both files with different names and record which version was approved.

This paper check can protect the meaning of a name; it does not predict the appearance on a particular surface. Make a supported sample before treating a material result as established.
