A reference photo is easier to use when it becomes three plain notes: the visible focal area, the text direction, and the margin you want to protect. This converts an inspiration image into a reviewable layout idea.
Keep the notes separate from the claim
Label the photo as reference only, then save a separate sketch for the proposed composition. That distinction prevents a visual preference from being mistaken for proof that every blank or artwork version will behave the same way.
If a name, logo, or date changes, make a new sketch file rather than overwriting the earlier one. The update archive at /updates/ has more ways to keep a project trail clear.
