A useful test file should preserve decisions, not just artwork. Pair the file with a short setup card so the next review starts with recorded context instead of memory.
Record the decisions beside the file
Give the card the same revision name as the artwork. Note the material source, visible finish, artwork orientation, focus and placement checks, and the person who approved the next step. Photograph the blank beside the card before a test begins.
Do not treat an old setting as a promise for a new blank. Confirm the material, current operating guidance, shielding, ventilation, and attended-operation procedure each time. If the source or coating changes, open a new test record.
Close the loop after review
Add one result photo and a plain-language decision: keep, revise, or stop. A rejected result is still useful when the reason remains attached to the file. This creates a reusable workflow without implying guaranteed performance on later materials.
