Describe what the eye sees
A short contrast note gives makers a repeatable way to describe whether a sample mark is easy to see from a normal viewing distance. It is an observation, not a universal material or performance claim.
After each sample, write one sentence about the visible relationship between the mark and the unmarked area: high contrast, subtle contrast, uneven appearance, or needs another review. Pair that note with a photo taken under the same light used for the rest of the sample set.
Separate appearance from expectation
Do not treat a favorable result on one blank as proof for another finish, coating, or supplier batch. Keep material source notes and test observations beside the image. That makes later comparisons more grounded and helps decide which samples deserve another controlled check.
