Small engraving tests can drift quickly when the review starts from memory. A reference photo gives the maker a simple before-and-after anchor before changing artwork position, blank orientation, or the next test question.
For AntBelt G1 planning, the reference photo does not need to be polished. A useful photo shows the blank, its direction, the surrounding work area, and any visual marker used for alignment. The goal is not marketing beauty; the goal is a record that makes the next decision easier.
This is especially helpful when several small blanks are tested in one session. Without a reference photo, the maker may only remember the most recent result. With a photo, each test can be reviewed against its own setup.
A practical note format is enough: object, artwork version, placement question, visible result, and what remains undecided. That keeps the sample useful without turning it into a promise about speed, durability, or final material behavior.
