A start checklist is incomplete without a stop procedure. Writing the procedure before the first sample makes the response easier to follow when something looks, sounds, or smells different from the reviewed plan.
Define ordinary stopping
Identify the normal method for ending or pausing the current workflow according to official guidance. Keep the control accessible and make sure the operator understands it before starting. Do not rely on discovering the interface during an unexpected event.
List immediate stop triggers
Examples include unexpected movement, loss of positioning, unusual smoke or flame behavior, ventilation failure, an unidentified material, or a person entering the controlled area. Adapt the list to the current equipment, workspace, and official safety information.
Assign the next action
State who controls the area, how power is handled according to current guidance, and when the workspace should remain undisturbed for inspection. Emergency response planning should match local requirements and the hazards of the actual materials and process.
Keep the route clear
The operator should be able to reach controls and leave the area without stepping around stock, packaging, or cables. Appropriate ventilation, shielding, protective equipment, and attended operation should be planned before work begins.
Record and review the interruption
If a job stops unexpectedly, preserve the setup and note what was observed. Do not simply restart. Recheck material identity, artwork, positioning, controls, and current official instructions. Update the checklist if the event reveals an unclear step.
